If You're Feeling Anxious, Just Take A Deep Breath And Look At These 9 Illustrations

18 percent of adults in the U.S. live with anxiety.

According to the National Institute of Mental Health, 18 percent of adults in the United States are affected by anxiety disorders. That's an estimated 40 million people.

Among those affected is Kristen Bell, who, in a 2016 interview with Sam Jones, talked about her own experiences living with anxiety and taking medication to cope. Speaking out about this topic not only helps to de-stigmatize it, but let's others know they are not alone.

To add to the conversation, artist Kate Allen, of the Instagram account The Latest Kate, created a series of uplifting illustrations for people with anxiety to help ease its effects.

"It's okay to be scared. It's okay to be uncomfortable. You will succeed in spite of those feelings," it says on one drawing

Apparently, her work is making a positive impact on those with anxiety, as one Instagram user commented, "With every post you do lately the message is always poignant to what I'm dealing with and it makes it easier for me to deal with [it] after seeing your post. Thank you for being the positive and light in my day that I always look forward to seeing."
