Video Shows Driver Using Self-Driving Tesla Car In New York City, Freaking Out

Would you trust this car?

You'll never have to look at the road again. Kind of.

The new Tesla self-driving cars have hit the streets and, thankfully for us, the team over at Jalopnik has stepped up and decided to test drive them for us. In a new YouTube video, they show themselves taking the car around New York City for 20 minutes while using its Model S Level 2 autonomous system, known as Autopilot.

"If this is the future not of driving, but of sitting in traffic, then please sign me up," passenger Michael Ballaban wrote.

In the video, he can be seen driving down the road without touching the steering wheel — aside from a few scares — and monitoring the traffic around him with a set of graphics on the dash. At one point, the car even changes lanes all on its own.
