'Teen Wolf' Season 5's New Opening Credits Mean Big Things For The Show

New stars. More romance. Badder villains.

Just like in a real high school, each year on Teen Wolf new characters come on the scene and old ones depart. (Unlike in real high school, however, many of these new players are actually werewolves.) The show's opening credits change each year to reflect these additions. As season 5 of Teen Wolf approaches, the newest opening credits give us a glimpse of what stories, characters and themes we should be paying attention to this year. There are a few especially important differences from the titles used in season 4 that hint at what's to come for the students of Beacon Hills High.

Teen Wolf 's season 5 premiere will be split over two nights: Monday, June 29 and Tuesday, June 30. The season, which is 20 episodes this year — up from just 12 in season 4 — will also be broken into two parts, with a hiatus in between. Last season ended with a huge battle between the wolves and the berserkers at La Iglesia, during which Derek transitioned into a full wolf. We're also still unsure about Peter's fate, since the season ended with him still held captive by Dr. Valack. Soon, we'll see the outcome of season 4's events and the new mysteries this season has waiting to drive fans nuts.

Here's everything revealed by Teen Wolf's season 5 opening credits:

Derek is out, Liam is in.

Tyler Hoechlin is no longer a series regular (boo!), but Dylan Sprayberry (who plays Liam, the beta wolf Scott created) has taken his place in the opening credits. Expect Liam to get a whole lot more screen time in season 5. Now that he's no longer under Kate's curse, he'll be able to work with Stiles and Scott much more.

Expect more romance.

Scott and Kira made things official back at the end of season 3, but they didn't kiss in the opening credits of season 4. Now, they're getting hot and heavy in the intro to season 5. Looks like these two are staying together — at least for a little while.

Doctors. Everywhere.

The mysterious Doctors are the big bads of season 5. Though we don't get to see their faces, these villains are all over the season's opening credits. Expect them to exert considerable force over the next 20 episodes.
