Asking your partner to marry you can be nerve-racking, but those who choose a more traditional route and ask their partner's family for their blessing first, may face an added level of pressure.
Recently, Whisper, an app that allows people to anonymously share their experiences, rounded up 22 precious stories from people asking their partners' family if they could propose.
"I asked my gf's [girlfriend's] dad for her hand in marriage and he started crying," one person shared. "Safe to say I have his blessing."
"Before I proposed, I went to my fiancé's father's grave and asked for her hand in marriage. She doesn't know I did that. She won't 'till [sic] I show the video at the reception," another wrote.
Though some may view the practice as being a bit antiquated, for others it is a meaningful sign of respect and love. We think every couple should just do what feels right for them!
