New Zealand Artist Creates Amazingly Photorealistic Tattoos

Living ink.

Steve Butcher, a tattoo artist working at Matt Jordan's Ship Shape Tattoo in Auckland, New Zealand is making waves across the internet with a photorealistic tattoo he recently completed on a customer.

The finished work has some people unable to believe their eyes.

Like all tattoos, Butcher starts with a thermal transfer made from an original image: but in his case, the detail is incredibly intricate.

Each gradient of color and every detail requires careful examination and control.

Finally, after hours of work, he is finished.

Butcher has done photorealistic work before to much acclaim.

Many of his pieces are of NBA players, including basketball legends Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan.

His work is simply astounding.
