4-Year-Old Is Overcome With Emotion When His New Stepmom Surprises Him With Wedding Vows

"I may not have given you the gift of life, but life sure gave me the gift of you."

When people marry someone with kids, they don't just become a husband or wife. They also become a parental figure for their stepchildren. During United States Marine Corps Sergeant Joshua Newville and Senior Airman Emily Leehan's wedding, Leehan made sure her new stepson would know how much he means to her.

After the couple exchanged vows, the bride turned to Gage, Sergeant Newville's 4-year-old son, and read the vows she'd written just for him. As she started speaking, Gage was immediately overcome with emotion and wrapped his arms around his new stepmom.

"I want you to be safe and to try your hardest and to be a good person," she said. "I know that you and I will butt heads, but I hope with all my heart that as you become a grown man, you will understand my methods and realize I have only done what is best for you and that I love you."

Gage, who has known Leehan since he was just 2 years old, sobbed throughout her speech. His father comforted and kissed him as he cried.

"I may not have given you the gift of life, but life sure gave me the gift of you," Leehan concluded her vows.

A video of Leehan reading her vows to Gage was posted to ABC News' Facebook page on Sunday where it has since gone viral. Nearly 93,000 people have shared the video and it has amassed over 11 million views to-date. It's clear people were just as moved by her words as Gage was in the moment.

In the comments section of the video, Gage's mom Käli Nuckols wrote, "As his mother, I can say that she is an amazing step-mother to him. I couldn't have picked someone better. Gage is lucky to have her and I'm so thankful I can trust her to be there when I cannot be!"

Gage seems like a lucky little guy to have so many loving parents in his life.
