Snoop Dogg might be more famous for his music than his charity, but that doesn't mean he isn't a great philanthropist. This week is a perfect example.
The L.A.-based rapper recently organized the second annual Thanksgiving Turkey Giveaway in Inglewood, California, where he gave out more than 1,500 turkeys to families from California.
"I'm happy I'm here," the rapper said in a speech published by TMZ. "Inglewood, y'all know I love y'all. This is my second home. Inglewood has been good to me from day one and that's why I love Inglewood. I just want to let y'all know that I'mma be doing this every year. Sorry I'm late, but we are going to make up for it by giving away some big fat turkeys so you can get your eat on this Thanksgiving."
Inglewood mayor James Butts and several other city officials accompanied Snoop to the event, where NBC Los Angeles reports that 800 fans waited outside to meet with the rapper afterward.
