Italian Nun's Cover Of "Like A Virgin" Turns Her Into An Instant Celebrity
Sister Act #3?
It seemed like sister Cristina Scuccia, an Italian Ursuline nun, already had her fifteen minutes of fame when she won Italy's version of The Voice.
Back in March, Scuccia blew everyone's mind with her powerful version of Alicia Keys' "No One". Now the singing nun is back with her first single which, by the way, totally makes sense. Scuccia recorded a mellow cover of Madonna's famous hit "Like A Virgin".
And it's divine! (Excuse the pun...)
The song was chosen by the singing nun herself and she claims there were no intentions to provoke or shock the public.
"Reading the text, without being influenced by previous interpretations, it shows that it's a song about the power of love which is capable of redeeming people from their past. And that's how I wanted to interpret it," Scuccia told Avvenire.
The black and white music video was shot in Venice, same as the original clip by Madonna. Sister Christina says she wanted the video to be serene and poetic and believes they succeeded.
This is the cover of the debut album by Sister Cristina.
Scuccia's debut album will be released on November 11th and will contain ten tracks, including "Fix You" by Coldplay, "True Colors" by Cindy Lauper, and "Ordinary World" by Duran Duran.
Now let's pay a little tribute to the original 80's version. Which one do you like better?
