Woman Writes Beautiful Post Celebrating Her Body And Her Stretch Marks

"It started though, with me loving myself first. Being grateful for what I had, not wishing for something better."

"I used to not see the point in exercise because my body was covered in stretch marks," one woman begins in an open and honest post of Facebook. The post, shared to the Love What Matters Facebook page, is written by Sharny Kieser of Sharny & Julias, two fitness experts whose books and programs help people take control of their minds and bodies.

In her post, Sharny, who's also a mother, goes on to explain that she would decline invitations to beach or pool parties where she would be expected to wear a bikini. But one day, that all changed.

"Then one day I overheard my loving husband explaining to a bunch of his friends why he thought stretch marks were beautiful," she writes. "They were a sign of being a woman. They are a result of the great love a mother has, that she would scar her own body to bring a child to life... on and on he explained and the more he talked, the more I got it."

Sharny adds that her scars were a symbol of her transition from a girl's body to a mother's body, and understanding that, she felt pride.

"I felt love. The love of my husband and the love of my children. Each one of them had been nurtured and lived behind those scars for 9 months."

With this knowledge, Sharny found the motivation to live a healthier lifestyle, and now proudly wears her bikini.

"It started though, with me loving myself first. Being grateful for what I had, not wishing for something better."

Sharny joins those powerful women who are proving that their stretch marks are beautiful, despite what others may think. This includes models Barbie Ferreria, Chrissy Teigen, and Robyn Lawley. In her public post, Lawley wrote

"As for my stretch marks I knew they were coming and as they're fading into white (like all my others) I thought I might capture them. Because they are some bad ass ‪#‎tigerstripes‬ :) And I earned them."

And Sharny's recent message has been met with loads of kind words:

"I see a beautiful, confident woman, not stretch marks. I wish more women would be confident in their skin, no matter what the shape or size. It's all about your attitude," one person shares on Facebook. "Wear the damn bikini!"

"Thank you for sharing your story, I really needed this," another writes. "I am the one who needs to learn to embrace my body because it carried 3 amazing kids and I wouldn't trade them for the world!"
