Sexual Abuse Survivors Share Their Heartbreaking Experiences

Standing strong.

"The mission of Project Unbreakable is to increase awareness of the issues surrounding sexual assault, child abuse, and domestic violence, and encourage the act of healing through art."

Photography series Project Unbreakable gives voice to those who were once silenced. The ongoing project features victims of sexual harrasment and other forms of violence  holding posters with quotes from their attackers.

The project was initially started by 22-year-old photographer Grace Brown back in 2011. Since then, she and her team have been traveling the country, collecting these hurtful experiences from women who dare to speak up.

The heartbreaking images show brave women who, despite being molested and threatened, dare to stand up and be an inspiration to everyone facing violence in their surroundings.

The project also encourages all victims of abuse to participate by sharing images with their personal experiences.

"We welcome anyone who has experienced any form of sexual abuse, whether physical or emotional. Male, female, transgender persons, genderqueer persons, etc."

Follow Project Unbreakable on Tumblr and Facebook or visit their website.

If you are disstressed or need to speak to someone about your experience, call 1.800.656.HOPE (4673) or head to centers.rainn.org and find the closest Local Crisis Center.
