This week, Late Night with Seth Meyers canceled its Monday show, which probably disappointed a bunch of fans who were scheduled to sit in the audience and even more who like to tune in to watch the show every night. That last-minute decision came for a very good reason, though, because it just so happens that the man behind the desk became a father on Sunday.
As Meyers described when the show reconvened Tuesday night, the baby boy — named Ashe Olson — came a couple weeks early, which obviously was a surprise to him and his wife. Then, in a nine-minute story, he recounted the full details of his first child's birth, which started with a normal Easter Sunday brunch and ended in a hospital full of nurses wearing bunny ears.
The video is worth the whole watch, but just in case you're living in the year 2016 and don't have nine minutes to spare on such a video, below are the best lines from Meyers' story, accompanied by GIFs of him looking exceptionally giddy.
"It sounds like what water would sound like if it broke."
"She was just screaming out an open window. Screaming!"
"My only regret is that you can't give an Uber driver six stars."
"I couldn't stop laughing for one reason ... half the people in the room had bunny ears on."
"To be able to name him after those two women ..."
"Last but not least, I want to thank my incredible wife, Alexi, for the work she did this weekend. I'm so lucky."
Now that you're convinced it's worth it, here's the full video:
Here's to hoping the happy new parents wait a while before inviting Game of Thrones' Melisandre to meet Ashe. They'd all be better off without her.
