Scroll through this sign-by-sign guide for lifestyle tips based on your horoscope:
Astrology.com says: "Ruled by loving Venus, the sign of Taurus needs to love and feel loved in order to be fulfilled. This month gives you plenty of opportunities to do both. On the 1st and 2nd, you're ripe and ready for change as two aspects set you up for the most romantic of nights with your honey, and a chance to say what you've been dying to say. All those feelings can't stay locked inside forever. It's time for them to come out."
We recommend: Before you spill all your secrets aloud, you may want to write them down first. Get yourself a journal if you don't already have one. Write down all the things you've been meaning to say and all the feelings you've been keeping bottled up. You'll be amazed by how quickly putting pen to paper can make you feel better.
Since your love life will heat up this month, treat yourself to some new underwear. It doesn't have to be fancy, but it does have to make you feel confident. You might also want to indulge in aphrodisiacs like a jasmine candle or some decadent chocolate.
Maria DeSimone at Tarot.com says: "A Full Moon in your 11th House of Hopes and Dreams on October 16 suggests that yes, a dream is coming true for you this month — and it'll happen with an unexpected twist. This dream might have everything to do with love and relationship or children, but can also connect to a group endeavor you've been working on. If you are in an industry where you have a strong internet or media platform, it looks as if this will be your month to shine! Looking for new work or freelance assignment? Put your resume out there after October 30. The New Moon will help you get your dream job."
We recommend: Congratulations! You're about to have a killer month which calls for some serious celebrating. You may want to buy a bottle of your favorite champagne to keep on hand for when the good news comes. It's also a great time to focus on music that boosts your mood and confidence. Spotify has some great mood boosting playlist options, but it'll be much more fun to you make your own. Discover new music and revisit some artists you haven't listened to in a long time. You'll know just what song to play when you're celebrating your big dream-come-true moment this month.
As far as looking for new work, it's a good idea to work on your resume this month. Schedule some time on day early in the month to go over your resume, update it, and print it on some beautiful paper. Make sure you're working your network this month and ask around assignments you might be interested in taking on.
Astrology.com says: "There are a lot of conflicting ideas swirling around in your head on the 1st and 2nd, and it can be hard to know where to turn. Who can you trust? The people you've known the longest should be your first resource. Feeling stressed or worn out on the 6th or 7th? Why not do something a little self-indulgent? If you don't have anyone who's going to pamper you and give you much-needed TLC, there's nothing wrong with getting it for yourself. You definitely deserve it!
There are a lot of distractions to keep your mind off things on the 13th and 14th, but covering up a problem won't make it go away. You know this. Instead of sweeping the dirt under the rug yet again, it might be time for some serious cleaning. Living a wilder lifestyle than you normally do is appealing on the 19th and 20th, but going out a lot and having too many adventures can get tiring. Is it possible you're not missing out on anything at all? Sometimes being a homebody has its fair share of appeal, and then some. Something you've always wanted comes into view on the 23rd, 24th or 25th, but you'll have to work hard to get it. If it's worth it, you'll reach for it."
We recommend: This month may bring about some challenges, but it's nothing that you can't handle. To help make things easier, you might want to tidy up your place and declutter the rooms you spend the most time in. This will help to clear your mind and put you at ease. If you haven't read Marie Kondo's The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up, this month may be the best time to pick up a copy.
As far as being a little self-indulgent goes, you may want to consider planning a short trip for yourself. Is there a place you always find comfort in? Or, is there somewhere you've always wanted to go or something you've always wanted to try? Do it now. Shove some of your favorite clothes into a duffle bag, grab your sunglasses, and head off on a relaxing adventure with just you, yourself, and ... you.
Astrology Club says: "Travel and the awareness of new information are very important in October 2016. You may travel to do with work or extended family occasions. October 2016 is also a month where you must look to use the qualifications you have to either improve work prospects or move to a more suitable position. Are you overqualified for what you do; do you have a love for something you studied and want to use this ability and training more frequently? Leos are creative and must have an outlet where self-expression is allowed – in October 2016, look to how you can match your abilities more closely to a job or even a hobby or some form of community project. Self-confidence for Leo is intrinsically linked to leadership and creativity, and you need some place in your life where these elements, so vital to you, are given an outlet."
We recommend: Looks like this October is a better time than ever to get in some self-reflection. Take a good hard look at your life, your accomplishments, and your goals and figure out your next moves. You don't want to look back a year from now and realize you wasted your time.
Your creativity should be off the charts this month, so be share to spend less time endlessly scrolling on your newsfeed and more time developing projects of your own. Whether you express your creativity through art or through fashion and beauty, be sure to make extra time this month and put aside some extra cash to help yourself flourish.
Maria DeSimone at Tarot.com says: "You'll find it easier than ever to market yourself this month, Virgo. As a result of your enhanced ability to sell your most valuable talents, it's likely that you'll end up with a profitable business arrangement anywhere between October 7-11. Another possibility is that you'll use this fortunate time range to ask your boss for a raise, or, if you're in business for yourself, to raise the rates you charge for services.
Domestic matters will thrive after October 18. You may decide to renovate your living space in some way, and if so you're likely to have expensive (and excellent) taste. There might also be wonderfully fortunate news coming your way from a relative, so keep your ears open."
We recommend: Work is looking good for you this month and we're pretty sure you're going to be very proud of your accomplishments. It's a great time to advocate for yourself to ensure that you're getting what you deserve in your job. Whether that means taking on more responsibility, getting a raise, or bonding with more of your coworkers, you're going to be pleased to answer your family when they inevitably ask, "how's work?"
You might have some extra cash flow coming in this month, but even if you don't, you can spice up your space on a budget. Remind yourself that your house should feel like a home. It should bring you both comfort and joy. This October seems like the perfect month to purchase some new statement pieces or splurge on that one item you've been eyeing for what feels like forever. Just make sure to read the reviews first.
Astrology Club says: "Balancing the amount of time and energy you spend on yourself versus others is crucial – you may have been spending too much time on yourself selfishly and now the special people around you have begun to feel neglected, or it may be that you have been people-pleasing to such a degree that you have lost yourself, and you need to claim backspace and time to be you and to redefine your identity. The emphasis is not on what you have done, but on who you are and how you want to be seen by others. Relationships (both business and personal) and how these contribute to your self-image and confidence will have to be analyzed – it is time to cut contact with those who make you feel negative and bring you down. Put a red ring around the Debbie Downers, the Gary Gossips and the Toxic Tanyas you know and show them the door."
We recommend: So, you've been spending a little too much time alone lately. Now, you've gotta give your friendships the TLC they need to flourish. The best thing you can do is be the one who makes the plans this month. Plan a picnic, host a dinner party, or get all of your friends to meet up at your favorite local bar. Just make sure you go some place where you can actually hear each other talk and — perhaps more importantly — hear each other laugh.
If your friends don't live as close as you'd like or if they can't get together, try sending out a thoughtful card. Not only does everyone love getting mail that isn't bills or trash, but the extra effort you put into handwriting something instead of texting it will not go unnoticed. You might also want to seal the envelope with a photo inside, too.
Astrology Club says: "Rest and quiet contemplation are vital for your mental health in October 2016; it is almost as if you have to recharge your batteries by just cutting yourself off from the rat race. You may book a weekend away to somewhere quiet by a lake or in the mountains, or perhaps you will curl up with a book and lock the door. It is a time you need to escape with your imagination into another world. In all health related issues, REST is the key in ... If you do get the flu or have another kind of health problem right now, it is a message to you to slow down and get much-needed rest. A bout of flu may be just what you need to give yourself an excuse to have that much-needed break."
We recommend: Plan to spend a lot of quality time with your bed this month. Make it the most enjoyable time possible by investing in some comfy pillows, cleaning your sheets more often, and putting on a relaxing face mask before you go to sleep. Not only will all of this help you to feel better, but it'll also make you look better. Win-win, no?
This October is going to be a great time to tackle your reading list. If you don't have one, it's time to make one. There's plenty of "Best Books of 2016" lists out there for you to get inspiration from and you should be able to finish at least a few before you ring in the new year.
Astrology.com says: "You're the man or woman with the plan on the 1st and 2nd. You might not be an expert in all things, but you have a solid idea about how to approach most situations. Your life has a welcome feeling of contentment on the 6th and 7th, and while there are more adventures to go on, prizes to win, and competitions to enter, you don't feel a sense of urgency to do anything more than you're already doing.
Slight confusion sets in on the 13th and 14th, and people might refer to you as 'scatterbrained' more than once. Be sure to leave your keys where you can easily locate them, and make as many lists as you need in order to remember things to buy at the store, tasks to accomplish at home, or assignments due at work."
We recommend: You might have a lot going on this month and, as a result, your mind is cluttered and your body is tense. That's exactly why you should add mental health time to one of your many to-do lists. Even if it's just for five minutes, schedule some time to put your mind at ease each day. Light a meditation candle, roll out your yoga mat, and allow the stress you're feeling to leave your body — at least for a little while.
Astrostyle says:"You're on a serious mission this month, Capricorn, and that's just the way you like it. The Sun is ascending through Libra, your tenth house of success, ambition and long-term goals, until October 22 ... You are SO in the zone. Keep your eyes on the prize as you pursue your loftiest missions, step by enterprising step. The tenth house rules men, particularly fathers, so lean on the goodfellas in your life for advice or support with your grandest plans.
Mars circles through your sign every two years, cranking up your charisma and making you an unstoppable force of nature. You want something? You're going for it—and you'll aim straight for your target like a sharpshooter. Make your mark, promote yourself, toot your own horn. Just watch out for veering into arrogant or argumentative territory, as Mars in your zodiac sign can make you a wee bit aggressive."
We recommend: You're going to get a ton of shit done this month and the feeling of accomplishment that settles over you will be enough to make all the work worth it. There really is no better time to start doing all of the things you've wanted but put off for so long. You have the upper hand over procrastination this month, so don't let that power go to waste. To help keep yourself on top of things, carry a planner with you that you can consistently check and add to.
Astrology.com says: "How many people can say they've had the chance to see the world from a whole new perspective? You get this opportunity on the 1st and 2nd, so don't waste a minute of it. The view you have is absolutely spectacular, and can be life-changing. Your personal connections are really important to you on the 6th and 7th, and a friendship has the chance to deepen when you go through something traumatic or intense together. You can't imagine not having this person in your life, and they feel the exact same way.
The 11th and 12th are super-productive days, but be careful not to overlook any important details. There's a lot more value in quality versus quantity. You don't get any extra life points for having the most! Your health is the focus on the 21st and 22nd, so eating right and exercising are two of your favorite things to do. A healthy lifestyle builds a strong body and keeps your mind active. It's important to be diligent on the 26th and 27th, especially when money is involved. If something seems too good to be true it probably is, and once you sign on the dotted line there's most likely very little recourse."
We recommend: Plan a special day for you and your best friend this month. It doesn't have to be extravagant, but it does have to show him or her that you truly appreciate the friendship. You might want to try a new activity together or revisit an old one the two of you love but haven't done in awhile. Snap some photos, laugh, and bring along a small token of your friendship.
Since you're going to be focused on your health toward the end of the month, you might want to start thinking about your nutrition. Are you eating a balanced diet? Do you often feel unwell after you eat? If so, it's time to rethink your menus. Pick up a healthy cookbook and some fresh ingredients and invite some of your loved ones over for a nutritious dinner.
Astrology.com says: "Make big goals and big plans for getting more fit and healthy. You don't have to get all gung-ho about it. Just reflect on how great it is to feel better and look better. Thinking about it like this is already a victory. Start right away on the 1st and put those good intentions to work. Enjoy that aerobics or yoga video, and repeat it tomorrow, the 2nd. The 3rd is even easier. You're getting better and better.
On the 6th the world may be less cooperative, but gently persist anyway. Run or swim a bit longer or farther. Do what you can do. Be methodical on the 11th and 12th and see great improvement. Stamina is up, and calories down. Maybe have a hot tub reward on the 14th. The weekend of the 15th and 16th is primed for progress, and even romance. Join others for the day trip and hike, or bike ride. A walk under the Full Moon can work, too. Eat well on the 21st, and that includes a healthy dessert. You're earning it. The 22nd might be emotional but exercise can even things out. The 30th is serious and sensitive, and so are you about your workout time. Excellent!"
We recommend: Health is on your radar from day the very beginning this month and it's better time than any to start working toward your fitness goals. Instead of falling back on workouts that feel more like a routine than a challenge, push yourself to try something new. You might feel uncomfortable at first, or you might completely hate it, but you won't regret trying. Remember that getting fit and healthy also means getting proper nutrition each day. Plan your meals ahead of time so you won't be tempted to cheat yourself out of a healthy meal.
You also want to be tracking your efforts as best as you can so you may want to invest in an activity monitor. If you'd rather do the calculating yourself, be sure to keep a journal where you write down your efforts and your goals. Keeping track will help to keep you accountable. You'll thank yourself later.
Astrology Club says: "To get the most out of in October 2016 you need to have everyone, either family or colleagues aboard. If you are trying to achieve as a one man band so you can claim all the glory, then in October 2016's endeavor will not be as successful or rewarding. The more you work for the benefit of all concerned, the greater the end result, and the better you will feel.
October 2016 is a great time to talk about issues in your long-term relationships with your partner as the channels are open, and you will both be able to put emotions aside and have a rational discussion without arguing. You and your partner may unite over a home improvement or redecorating project or even landscaping your garden. You may also embark on a new healthier lifestyle initiative together. It is a back to basics, back to what is natural in the relationship."
We recommend: It can be particularly tempting to stay in all month and binge-watch TV shows in October, but fight the urge. Instead, focus on doing activities with your partner. Go to events, take long strolls, and plant some flowers. If you don't have your own garden, contact your local community garden to find out how you can get involved. At the very least, you can start by plotting some herbs in pretty pots on your kitchen windowsill.
Make a pact with your partner to work on living a healthier lifestyle together. That doesn't have to mean an intense change. One super simple but too often overlooked way to improve your health is to ensure that you're getting enough water each day. Spice things up by getting one of those fruit infusion pitchers and keeping it in your fridge. You can also get a little competitive and see who can stick to the new regimen better.
