If you're looking for an excuse to run, here's a
good great one: running can lead to more sex — well, sort of.
Per a survey conducted by Wakefield Research for Brooks Running Company, 41 percent of Americans said that they feel "frisky" after a run. The researchers asked 1,000 people from the U.S., Canada and Germany who run at least once a week.
But getting turned on isn't the only benefit of the activity. According to the company's survey results, 35 percent of Americans said that having romantic relations in the bedroom before a run improves their performance. That rate jumps to 48 percent for adults under 40.
The results match up with a biological explanation broken down by "SHAPE" magazine:
"Humans are able to run farther and longer than most animals, and many experts believe that we used this skill to hunt back in the caveman days. We'd chase down an antelope for four or five hours, until it finally collapsed from the exertion," explained writer Mirel Ketchiff. "So from an evolutionary perspective, better endurance runners were likely seen as more desirable mates."
In other words, running and sex go hand in hand.
A win-win situation for runners and motivation for the rest of us.
Just make sure not to do this.
That'll just kill the mood.
