When Jonathan Brownlee was leading in the final race of the World Triathlon Series finale in Mexico, he suddenly ran out of energy.
The 2016 Olympic triathlon silver medalist, seen in the video below, was coming up to the finish line when his legs and body gave out on him. He then stumbled over to the sideline, where someone caught him before he collapsed.
Trailing right behind him was his brother and 2016 Olympic triathlon gold medalist Alistair Brownlee. Seeing his brother in trouble, he immediately stopped and put his brother's arm around him. Instead of gunning for the win himself, they were both going to finish regardless of whether they came out victorious.
Alistair added that this has happened to him before and that he would have helped anyone in that position. Even though it was a big stage, he said it was "the right thing to do."
Afterward, Jonathan was taken to a hospital where he was treated for dehydration.
He said on Twitter that this wasn't how he envisioned finishing the race, but "gave it everything." He also thanked his brother, saying, "your loyalty is incredible."
Even though they didn’t win, it is surely a finish that they will remember forever.
