While participants in Dry July typically abstain from alcohol to raise money for adult cancer patients, a radiologist had a more creative idea to help the cause.
Mark Udovitch, who began growing his hair two and a half years ago, will be shaving it off at the end of month for Dry July and donating it to cancer. But in the weeks leading up to it, the 28-year-old used his long hair to recreate famous photos of celebrities.
According to Mashable, Udovitch became inspired to shave his head after a cancer patient told him how uncomfortable she felt after losing her hair.
With the help of his girlfriend Lisa, who served as the photographer, Udovitch's parody photos have gone viral. They raised over $8,000 as of Monday.
"I have gotten a very positive response from the wider cancer therapy community with many radiation therapists private messaging me saying how much respect they have for me and that they loved the photos," Udovitch wrote to A Plus.
"The overall response has been incredibly positive and many of my colleagues are very proud to be involved," he added.
