Rachel Platten Conducts Beautiful Social Experiment For 'Better Place' Video

A perfect video for a perfect love song.

Rachel Platten released the video for "Better Place," her third single from Wildfire, yesterday, and we've got to say, it has all the makings of a perfect love song. In fact, we're going to go ahead and call this one early: this is the stuff that lip dub/flash mob proposals and first dances are made of.

In an interview with Idolator, Platten talked about the inspiration for the song. "My sister called me one day and told me that she's found the person she's going to marry after years of thinking she was just going to be single forever," Platten told Idolator. "The song just wrote itself after that. I was just looking out, with this beautiful sunlight filtering through the trees, and it just felt like this gift from the sky. It was already written, it just came through me."

If your heart doesn't melt when she sings ...

"And I hold my favorite thing
I hold the love that you bring
But it feels like I've opened my eyes again
And the colors are golden and bright again
There's a song in my heart, I feel like I belong
It's a better place since you came along"

... then we recommend you seek medical attention.

To add to the song's formidable hooks and her beautifully soft vocals, Platten's video concept is nothing short of perfect. Using the familiar social experiment format so beloved by viral video makers, the "Fight Song" artist invited couples and families to sit down and simply look at each other while listening to "Better Place."

The result is nothing short of perfect.
