PTA fundraisers can be a tedious, sometimes unrewarding affair — mom-of-three Dee Weisz Heinz knows the struggle.
So when her daughter, a seventh-grader at a Texas school, brought home this hilarious "alternative fundraiser" form, she couldn't resist sharing it with her friends.
The form gave parents the option to donate different amounts, attached with amusingly honest descriptions for each sum.
For example, a $50 donation says, "I do not want to walk, swim or run in any activity that has the word 'thon' on it. Here is the money I would have spent on my child's 'free' t-shirt."
Clearly, many parents identified with the Heinz's sentiment. The photo has been shared more than 180,000 times, and Heinz wrote in the comments that she was shocked at the amount of attention it received.
"I'm all about helping out at the schools and supporting my children," she explained in the comments, "but when you have 3 kids in school who are also doing extra-curricular activities as well, sometimes even one 'simple' fundraiser is just more than I can tackle. It's never that simple, and in our house, it's never just one. I loved their sense of humor, obviously coming from parents who've been there-done that, and they understand."
Heinz told the Huffington Post that she and Sean, her husband, enjoyed ted the humor and honesty in the form. "[It] was obviously written from the perspective of a fellow parent who understands how overwhelming these undertakings can often be," she said.
But Heinz also noted that she understands that not every family has the disposable income to simply write a check and appreciated the school's consideration of parents who have multiple responsibilities to juggle.
At the end of the day, she told the website, "this was simply 'fun.'"
