Ronaldo And Portugal Bust Out The Epic Celebrations After Winning First Ever Title

Solid candidate for best week ever.

This past weekend, Portugal took home their first major international title after beating the French 1-0 in the Euro Cup Final in France.

It wasn't an easy day for Ronaldo, who left in the 25th minute with a debilitating knee injury after a tackle from Dimitri Payet. Despite #7's strength to try to continue on, he passed on the captain's armband to Nani and had to be carted off the field in tears.

Despite losing their best player and captain, Portugal remained strong.

Defender, Pepe, said, "We lost our main man, the man who could score a goal at any moment, " according to the Wall Street Journal. He went on, "We were warriors on the pitch. We said that we'd win it for him."

While France was dominant, with 17 attempts at goal, the Portuguese played tough defense and adapted without Ronaldo.

Despite numerous close calls, Portugal held on until the second half of overtime. With only 10 minutes remaining until the teams would be heading to penalty kicks, their sub, Eder, scored a wonder goal in the 109th minute to put them up 1-0 at Stade de France.

According to WSJ, Eder echoed Pepe's sentiments, saying that Ronaldo, "Still gave us all his strength and bravery, and we got this important victory, both for him and all of Portugal.”

The goal secured the Portugal win, which was their first major international title. They previously came close when Ronaldo was 19 and made it to the Euro Final in Lisbon, but lost to Greece.

After the win on Sunday, the celebrations went into full effect as the team headed home to Portugal.

Once they got there, they were greeted to a royal welcome from the faithful fans, who have been waiting their entire lives for a title.
