These Flowery Pit Bull Portraits Will Change The Way You Think About The Breed

#PitBullFlowerPower

Hippies and twenty-somethings aren't the only ones sporting flower crowns.

Enter New York photographer Sophie Gamand. In order to show Pit Bulls off in a softer light, she photographs the pups up for adoption in adorable flower crowns and posts them to her Instagram page. According to the Instagram blog, she's teamed up with several rescues to get the #PitBullFlowerPower movement off of the ground.

"People are afraid of them, but the fact I was able to put flower crowns on their heads and photograph them like this says a lot about their temperament," she told Instagram. "They were all sweet and loving."

In fact, while there's a stigma against Pit Bulls for being an aggressive breed, most are calm and utterly lovable. According to Petfinder, a Pit Bull dog who passes a behavioral test is not more likely to snap than other breeds: "The reality is that most Pit Bulls are not aggressive toward people; many are extremely sociable and adore children."

Thanks to Sophia and her team, flower-wearing Pitbulls may be the new normal, a trend the dogs below seem to be very okay with.
