The Confidence And Beauty Of People With Albinism Is Showcased In This Continuing Photo Series

Stunning.

Last year, Yulia Taits photographed people with albinism in a beautiful portrait series called Porcelain Beauty. Now, Taits has released a second part of her series, highlighting men, women, and children with the inherited genetic condition.

Albinism is a condition that reduces the amount of melanin in a person's skin, hair, and/or eyes, and it occurs in people from all over the world. In the United States, about one in 18,000 to 20,000 people have some form of albinism.

"I got a lot of feedback from people, many of them were people with Albinism," Taits writes on her website, explaining the reaction to her first series. "They were saying my project is so powerful and it makes them feel beautiful and confident in the way they are. This is the main reason I decided to continue and create more beautiful images." She also notes that all of the photos were taken in white tones so that she could show that white isn't just a single color, but that it has many tints and shades.

"This series was an amazing experience for me because I could create this beautiful photography without Photoshop. What transpired was pure natural beauty," she told A Plus last year.

Now, in Porcelain Beauty 2, the photographs are taken in the same style, with all its subjects dressed in white, often looking directly into the camera. In one photo, a young boy poses with a series of flying paper airplanes. In another, a woman lays amongst pearls and seashells, making for an incredibly fantastical image.

Hopefully, Taits's photographs will work to combat the dangerous stigmas that some people with albinism face around the world, especially those that lead to violence
