When "Pitch Perfect" came out in 2012, it didn't just spawn a wave of catchphrases, and the careers of several cast members. In addition to the film, it also generated a hugely successful single for Anna Kendrick, whose song "When I'm Gone" made it all the way to the top three on the Billboard charts. Three years later, the sequel is experiencing even more success than the original. Not only did the new movie claim the number one position at the box office on its opening weekend, now it has been confirmed that the "Pitch Perfect 2" soundtrack is the best-selling album of that same week, beating out Mumford & Sons' "Wilder Mind."
It makes sense that the album would be a hit, especially considering how well the movie has done. In addition to the a cappella groups the Barden Bellas, the Treblemakers, and Das Sound Machine, the soundtrack also features Snoop Dogg, Jessie J, professional a cappell-ers Pentatonix, and other celebrities who made cameos in the film. The 45-minute record is composed of 18 songs, including a new version of "When I'm Gone" and, of course, "Flashlight." If you're a fan of great comedy, great music, or both, getting this album is a no brainer.
Here are a few of the songs available on the "Pitch Perfect 2" soundtrack:
1. "Flashlight" by Jesse J
2. "Lollipop" by the Treblemakers
3. "Riff Off" by all the a cappella groups
4. The Bellas' World Championship Finale Set
5. "Crazy Youngsters" by Ester Dean
