'This Is London': Photo Of Londoner Running To Safety, Beer In Hand, Seen As Evidence Of City's Spirit

"We will never let these cowards win, and we will never be cowed by terrorism."

On June 3, three men reportedly rammed into pedestrians on London Bridge and then randomly began stabbing people at Borough Market and in nearby bars. Seven people were killed and dozens more injured in this latest terror attack in the U.K., which, according to CNN, ISIS has already taken responsibility for.

Although the terror attack comes less than two weeks after the bombing in Manchester that killed 22 people, people around the world are finding some comfort in one telling photo that exhibits the strength, stoicism, and resolve of the British people.

As bars near London Bridge were evacuated Saturday night in the midst of the deadly attack, people were photographed running from the area. However, one man just couldn't bear to part with his nearly full pint, so he held the drink in one hand as he fled.

Per Mashable, the snap of this mindful Brit (seen on the right wearing a red shirt) was tweeted by a man named Howard Mannella and has already been retweeted more than 37,000 times and liked more than 115,000 times.

Twitter users were quick to make a few lighthearted quips about the photo.

Though there were some that felt people online were making light of a terrible situation too soon, others were quick to point out that finding humor in upsetting situations is "the British way." After all, these are the people who gave us the now widely used (and frequently misused) "Keep Calm and Carry On" slogan just before the start of WWII.

Just hours after the attack, London Mayor Sadiq Khan called the terrorists responsible "barbaric cowards" and encouraged Londoners to remain "calm and vigilant," but told them not to stop living their lives.

"We are all shocked and angry today, but his is our city," he said in a video message posted to Twitter on June 4. "We will never let these cowards win, and we will never be cowed by terrorism."
