One Direction Needs Your Help To Save The World. Here's Why.

What do you want your world to look like?

One Direction has one of the biggest platforms in the world. Beloved by millions of people, and followed on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook by hordes of die-hard fans, one click of a mouse and they can create a real impact. Luckily, the band chooses to use its powers for good. As the group announced on July 7, One Direction has started the action/1D campaign, associated with action/2015.

According to its website, action/2015 is "a coalition of over 1600 organisations around the world who are committed to fighting for a better future. … We are truly global and each organisation has different specialities and strengths. From grassroots environmental projects to international anti-poverty organisations, we each bring something unique to the table." The coalition has chosen climate, poverty and inequality as the three important issues it hopes to tackle this year.

One Direction has partnered with action/2015 and the boys are urging their fans to make creative content, such as videos and photos, that express what type of world they'd like to live in. In September, at the United Nations General Assembly meeting in New York, world leaders will be gathering to create new global goals for the future of the planet and everyone on it. These leaders will be shown a video made up of the action/1D content submitted by One Direction fans. That's right, One Direction literally has the power to influence global superpowers. Hey, they practically are a global superpower themselves.

Here are a few samples of the types of changes One Direction fans want to see in the future:

A world where everyone's opinions are respected:

A world without animal abuse:

A world based on equality:

You can watch more action/1D videos at the campaign's website and create your own. Here are Harry, Niall, Liam and Louis to explain how the process works:

You can submit your video on Twitter by using #action1D or on the action/1D website. Now the only question you have to ask yourself is, what do you want your world to look like?
