A Duck Was Trapped Under Frozen Ice And Would Have Died If Not For This Fearless Norwegian
What started out as a regular day for a Norwegian ice bather Lars Jørun Langøien, turned out to be a life-changing event. But not entirely for him.
Lars Jørun Langøien, 36, and a few of his colleagues met by the Sognsvann lake for their weekly ice bathing session.
Soon they discovered an unfortunate sight: a duck was trapped under a thick layer of ice and couldn't break through.
Fortunately, Langøien was already wearing his swimsuit and had no second thoughts when it came to rescuing the poor bird.
He jumped straight into the freezing water, crushed the ice and dragged the duck ashore.
According to his colleague, Yngvil Søholt, Lars even gave the duck a mouth-to-mouth resuscitation.
The bird was saved and the Internet has christened Lars the King of Ducks. But Lars sure is modest about his actions and doesn't see himself as a hero.
"It felt like the right thing to do," Langøien told VG.
Looks like somebody's made a new best friend, huh Lars?
