Welcome, Harry Potter fan. You couldn't resist clicking, could you? Well, there's good news and bad news to share with you. Which do you want first? Bad news? Good call, get through the tough stuff right away. The bad news is that headline was 100 percent designed to get you to click into this article. Don't leave before reading the good news though, because it really is good — J.K. Rowling truly is releasing a new Harry Potter book.
What's the catch, you ask? Clever reader. The catch is that the new book isn't exactly a book. It's a script — specifically the script of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, the upcoming two-part play that premieres at London's Palace Theatre this summer. It'll feature an older Harry, Ron, and Hermione, but so far there's not much we know about the story beyond that. If you're one of many Harry Potter fans who probably can't make it out to London to see the play in person, the announcement is pretty cool news. The script will be out on July 31, the same day as Cursed Child hits the stage for its premiere.
The other small catch is that the script is actually written by Jack Thorne, but the story was, of course, created with more than a little input from Rowling (and John Tiffany). All you need to know is that a new, lengthy story that features Harry Potter will hit bookshelves this summer, thus turning you into a kid again. Forget the technicalities and keep your eyes on the prize.
