Los Angeles-based makeup artist Mynxii White doesn't believe growing up should mean changing who you are — and she's right.
In a video for BuzzFeed, White, who describes her style as "colorful, glittery, and classic," says that when she turned 30, people told her she had to tone down her look in order to be taken seriously in her industry.
But in doing so, White's work and friendships suffered, because she "lost the spark that made [her] special."
So, she started sporting those colorful pieces she loved, despite "all the rules," and in doing so, learned valuable lessons that led to both success and happiness.
"To me getting older isn't changing who you are because of what people expect you to be, but really owning who you are," she says.
White's philosophy is one that relates to people of any age, and it's important to remember that your uniqueness is what makes you the best version of yourself.
