The Reason Why A Simple Candle Meant So Much To This Mom

"You told me I deserved it when I started to tear up."

Random acts of kindness may be small gestures,  but they can mean the world to the people they touch.  One mom-of-four, named Erin Bennett. recently took to Facebook to share how she was affected by the kind act of a man behind her at the grocery store.

The man had insisted he pay for her pumpkin spice candle and makeup after she was going to put them back.

In the post, Bennett writes that she usually saves her personal purchases until last, and often puts them back when she reaches her grocery budget. During this shopping trip, she was over her limit.  But when the stranger saw her about to put back the items, he offered to buy them for her.

In the post, Bennett says the gesture meant so much to her, especially considering the stranger didn't know she had gone over her budget, and that she was with only two of her four children.

"You didn't know that I have postpartum depression from the youngest babe and that I use scent as a way to boost my mood," she wrote. "You didn't know that this week has been full of sick kids, parent-teacher conferences, and emergency dental visits, and I was so looking forward to lighting that candle at nap time and just taking a minute to relax."

"You saw me as a human, not just the mom in front of you that was distracted and going way too slow. You heard me say that I'd like to put those items back, and you said you were getting them. You didn't take 'no' for an answer. You told me I deserved it when I started to tear up."

Thanks to the sweet gesture, Bennett reveals that the man has made her day, and probably her whole week.  She wrote, "I WILL pay it forward. Thank you so much for your kind heart and words."

Bennett encouraged people to share the post in the hopes that the man would see her thank you note. She also hopes the post will "remind people that kind gestures go a long way."
