'Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation' Trailer Shows The IMF Under Attack By The Syndicate

Ethan Hunt and the gang tackle their most difficult "Mission" yet.

Ethan Hunt and his trusty team of spies as the Impossible Missions Force (IMF) have spent four previous features battling America's enemies, taking down terrorists and generally keeping the world from imploding. Now they're back in a fifth installment, "Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation," which released a new trailer this week. The film will follow Ethan, Benji, William, Luther and new team member Ilsa (Rebecca Ferguson) as they work to stop The Syndicate, an "anti-IMF" spy league that's trying to kill them off. They'll also face more bureaucratic struggles: Alec Baldwin (also new to the franchise) is trying to convince the government to terminate the IMF. Come on, Alec. Don't you know how many times Ethan has literally saved us all? Have some respect.

The new trailer shows our favorite secret spy getting into car chases, beating up bad guys, hanging off an airplane and, of course, flirting with other clandestine state employees. But the real highlight of the promo shows Ethan diving into a 70,000-gallon underwater bank vault (or something) sans oxygen tank: if he doesn't make it out in two and a half minutes, he and his team are doomed.
