Michelle Obama Surprised Girls At A D.C. School — And It Was Documented On Snapchat

Her dedication to public service inspires us.

A group of female students at Cardozo Education Campus, a combined middle and high school in the Columbia Heights neighborhood of Washington, D.C., was surprised with a visit from former First Lady Michelle Obama who made the excursion as part of a celebration of International Women's Day.

Obama posted highlights of her visit on Snapchat, where enthusiasm and surprise marked what probably started off as a pretty average Wednesday.

"We're celebrating International Women's Day with a group of amazing women," Obama said in a short preface to her Snap story, "and we're going to talk about the importance of education in their lives and mine."

Obama's story showed her meeting the girls, giving out hugs, and finally sitting down as part of a round table discussion with faculty and students to talk about issues facing women and girls in the 21st century.
