Mermaid Toast Is Officially A Thing, And We're Totally Mesmerized By It

"Just have fun with it!"

From avocado toast to sweet potato toast, there are plenty of ways to brighten up your regular breakfast routine.

But one food stylist's taking toast to the next level with unicorn and mermaid-inspired slices that are sure to make your jaw drop and your mouth water.

"My goal is to take healthy food and make it fun and exciting, brightening it up with a few (or many) pops of color," Adeline Waugh tells Vogue magazine. Waugh fills her Instagram and blog, Vibrant And Pure, with gorgeous photos of her healthy creations.

In her latest blog post, Waugh breaks down how we can make her mermaid toast at home. First, it requires a few ingredients and tools: cream cheese, spirulina powder, chlorphyll drops, a piece of toasted bread, and a butter knife.

Then, in a very experimental fashion, Waugh says she adds small amounts of chlorphyll and spirulina to the cream cheese and mixes it to her desired blue-green color. She layers that on top of white cream cheese in wave-like motions.

"You don't have to do it exactly like I do, just have fun with it!"

“Brightly colored toast named after a mythical creature is not a serious or important matter, but with everything going on in the world, if someone can feel happy to look at a pretty piece of toast, then why not?” Waugh tells Vogue.

That said, be sure to check out more of Waugh's work below, and try making your own toast at home, too!
