Marshawn Lynch is a romantic, and he doesn't even know it.
We covered Lynch's strategy for handling the media leading up to the Super Bowl. Regardless of what questions hovering reporters asked him, he responded by repeating the phrases "yeah," "thanks for asking," and, pointedly, "I'm just here so I won't get fined."
And now, although his most recent interviews weren't exactly pull quote-worthy, a few charmingly young lads are demonstrating just how unexpectedly romantic his responses have been throughout his career.
The proof? A hilarious YouTube video uploaded by University of Illinois-Chicago students Alex Van Anrooy and Henry Pye. Van Anrooy filmed his friend walking around the nearby campuses of DePaul University and University of Chicago, "armed" with Lynch's "poetic musings." Pye approached women only using Lynch's quotables.
Miraculously, Pye managed to memorize enough of Lynch's press conferences to get through entire conversations with various women. He even busted out the lesser known "shout out to my real Africans out there."
And what did Pye do in the rare event of successfully getting a phone number? A touchdown celebration, of course.
