London Man Gives His Grandmother An Emotional Surprise On Her 86th Birthday

Well done, sonny. Well done, indeed.

Eighty-six-year-old grandmother Iris Howard got the most fantastic surprise from her 22-year-old grandson David Goodings last month when he took the octogenarian on a very special drive.

Shortly after Howard gets into her grandson's car, Goodings begins to fiddle with the radio. As they drive off, a fake DJ — recorded earlier by Goodings — suddenly interrupts the "broadcast" and asks the audience to "please listen very, very carefully."

"Iris Howard is celebrating her birthday," the DJ says. "Commonly known for winning the Best Nan Competition after 10 years in a row, the 86-year-old is often described as an incredible person and loved by all her family."

At first, Howard is surprised, but Goodings was far from done.

After the DJ's announcement, recorded birthday wishes from Howard's friends and family begin pouring in with loving thoughts and sentiments.

After they get to the last one, Goodings smiles and regretfully tells the teary-eyed Howard, "I know you're close to your brother and he's in Australia ... and I tried to get him, we spent weeks trying to get hold of him ... but we couldn't do it."

Howard, who has regained her composure, seems perfectly content with her grandson's explanation.

Goodings suggests they try another radio station ... and, of course, suddenly Iris Howard hears her brother's voice saying, "Happy birthday, Liz."
