British girl group Little Mix just released the music video for their new song "Shout Out to My Ex," and we're loving the message it sends about dealing with a breakup — not to mention the catchy tune.
The video features group members Perrie, Jade, Jesy, and Leigh-Anne looking fierce in the desert. The setting reminds of another empowering girl group anthem from recent months: Fifth Harmony's "That's My Girl." That video had a post-apocalyptic vibe, whereas Little Mix takes a more lighthearted approach, with the ladies literally throwing out what remains of their relationship.
Still, both songs offer a positive outlook on heartbreak. "That's My Girl" encourages the listener to get back on their feet and keep going, while "Shout Out to My Ex" goes a step further to actually express an appreciation for the tough times — it just made them stronger.
Check out the chorus and get ready to sing along:
Shout out to my ex, you're really quite the man
You made my heart break, and that made me who I am
Here's to my ex, hey look at me now
Well, I'm all the way up, I swear you'll never bring me down
