A 'Levitating' High School Student Made The Internet Crazy — Without Touching The Ball

Move over, Michael Jordan.

Walker Stillman of Champaign Central High School in Illinois finished with 10 points, including a crucial three-point shot, during a basketball win over rival, Danville. However, there's only one play from this game that Stillman is getting attention for — and he didn't even touch the ball on that play.

After a Denville player missed a shot, Stillman went up for the rebound. He was at the edge of the key and several players were crashing the hoop for the rebound. The 5-foot-11 Stillman jumped directly up so that he could see the action near the hoop. A photographer snapped an image at that moment and it literally looks like Stillman was levitating in mid-air.

The photo went viral online, as many people on social media said that Stillman "was floating" or as "Jesus" or a "Jedi." Some also accused the image of being fake, but a video proved that the action was real.

"I'm going to hang it on the wall," Jane Stillman, his mother and assistant principal, told the Champaign News-Gazette, "so when he gets old he can remember how high he used to jump."

Stillman, who is also the quarterback of the football team, loves the new attention that he is getting.

"Most the people I've heard from ask me, 'What were you doing?" he told the Champaign News-Gazette. "I had jumped for a rebound and saw that it wasn't coming my way, so I kind of stopped what I was doing."

And when Stillman is not "floating," this is what he looks like.
