Leslie Jones Receives Outpouring Of Support After Expressing A Fear So Many Face

"I really feel like ‘what’s it all for’ if the people you want to notice don’t.”

We all have bad days; sometimes we don’t feel like the best versions of ourselves, even if we're someone as awesome and hilarious as Leslie Jones. The actress, who’s known for making people smile, shared an Instagram post on Jan. 30 about feeling alone — a common feeling so many of us have, but don't often express so openly. 

In a gym selfie Instagram post, Jones wrote, “‪OK back to cardio. But confession, I feel like I’m doing it for nothing. I know it’s not. I’m healthy and look good, but I really feel like ‘what’s it all for’ if the people you want to notice don’t.”

Like many of us do, the star had a moment of self-doubt. “I just feel like I might die alone,” she wrote. “Sorry that’s pretty heavy today!!”

Fans were quick to respond with love and encouragement.

Celebrity friends like Megan Good also comforted Leslie with inspiring words.

"The right people will notice .. you are a ‘Gift’ and God doesn't give His precious gifts away to everyone,” Good wrote in an Instagram comment. “He's selective .. He gives you to who He can trust. Your [sic] doing it for something ... your [sic] preparing for something (career, relationship, purpose etc). Making it so that your body will continue to take you wherever God wants you to go.”

This isn’t the first time the world has rallied behind Jones. Back in 2016 while the actress was promoting her Ghostbusters movie, she suffered the torment of racist and vile internet trolls. Fans sent support her way using the #LoveForLeslieJ hashtag.

Besides just being one of our favorite funny ladies, Jones truly is an inspiration for what it means to be open. It’s not easy being vulnerable or exposing our insecurities, but it is important we become more comfortable doing so. Having at least one person in your life that you can speak to whenever you are going through something can make a world of difference. 

You can also try talking to a therapist, calling a help line, or even keeping a diary to gain some peace and lighten emotional burdens. Being open and honest about pain can be a healing experience, but it's comforting to know you are not alone in experiencing loneliness as it is one of the most common issues people face. By speaking up about it, we are not only helping ourselves, but we are helping to show others that it's OK to seek help.
