A Lazy Girl's Beauty Guide To Getting Glam For The Holidays

You can still look stunning at family dinner with minimal effort.

The holiday season can be stressful enough without having to worry about spending too much time, money, and effort getting ready for all the events you'll be attending, like your office's holiday party or your family dinner in December. But fear not fellow lazy girls, we've got you covered when it comes to getting the right look for any festive occasion.

Wearing no makeup at all may be the ultimate lazy girl beauty hack, but some of us prefer not to be barefaced with the people who feel comfortable criticizing us most (our family, ahem ahem). And, more importantly, some of us love the way we look after getting ready — we just don't want it to take too long.

The good news is that you don't have to put in much effort to pull off a beautiful look for all your events this season. To help you be happier for the holidays, we compiled some of our favorite products to help make getting glam easier.

1. Slip Silk Pillowcase

This lazy girl beauty product helps you get pretty while you sleep. The Slip Silk Pillowcase ($79) is an anti-aging, anti-sleep crease, and anti-bed head beauty treatment that works to improve issues that commonly occur with ordinary pillowcases.

Cotton pillowcases can damage your hair, by pulling on it and tangling it throughout the night. Instead, Slip's silk pillowcases are gentle on your hair, reduce split ends, and ensure that the hairstyle you wear to bed lasts overnight. You no longer have to worry about waking up with bedhead — and that means less primping in the morning.

Ordinary pillowcases can also draw moisture from your hair, scalp, and face. They can tug at and scratch your skin, causing it to lose elasticity prematurely, and can draw moisture away from face. This special pillowcase, however, keeps your skin hydrated and reduces stretching by reducing friction.

And while this specialty pillowcase isn't cheap, it's perfect for those who want to make absolutely no effort in the beauty department. Getting beautiful while you sleep is the stuff of dreams, after all.

2. Nars The Multiple

Multi-purpose products are a quintessential part of the lazy girl lifestyle because they save you money, time, and, most importantly, effort. That's why every lazy lady needs to get her hands on this cult classic.

NARS The Multiple ($39) is an all-in-one cream-to-powder makeup stick that can be used as an eyeshadow, highlighter, blush, and lip balm. It's highly pigmented and a little goes a long way with this stuff, so you won't have to worry about it running out too quickly.

You can throw this makeup stick in your holiday clutch for quick touchups and not have to worry about lugging around too much makeup. It's a win-win.

3. Tarte Glitter Liners

'Tis the season to embrace metallics and glitter up. The new Tarte Limited-Edition Tarteist Pro Eye Jewels Glitter Liners ($24) are perfect for getting glam with very little effort.

The double-sided liquid liners come with a metallic shade on one side and a glitter formula on the other. Whether you're looking to swipe on just a smidge of color or go all glittered out, this buildable liquid liner will get you where you need to go. The ultra-fine brush tip ensures precision during application and the quick-drying formula will keep your look in place. And, if that didn't all sound good enough, these eyeliners are also vegan, cruelty free, and formulated without any harmful ingredients like parabens or phthalates.

Tarte currently offers them in two shades — gold and silver. The holidays are the perfect time to try these bold, shimmering beauties, especially if you're used to lining your lids will black and brown.

4. MAC Ruby Woo Lipstick

If there's one thing we know for sure about makeup, it's that red lipstick can instantly make you feel dressed up. Nothing draws more attention to a woman's face than a timeless, enticing red. Armed with the right shade, you truly won't need to wear any other makeup to feel confident. This holiday season, try wearing nothing on your face but a velvety, crimson lip. The low-maintenance look is both versatile and flattering.

Our personal favorite is MAC's Ruby Woo Lipstick ($17). Not only does it take one second to put on, but this lipstick also stays on basically forever, so you won't have to worry about touchups between sipping cocktails or chowing down on comfort food.

And, while we're here, let us dispel any notions you have about it being difficult to pull off. Armed with the right shade, you truly won't need to wear any other makeup to feel confident. It might take some experimenting to discover that perfect shade, but once you do, you'll find yourself slipping into your purse as a pick-me-up. Just in case.

5. Kiesque Liquid Palisades

For those who don't have the time or the patience for salon manicures, especially during peak holiday season, Kiesque's Liquid Palisades ($14) are an easy go-to. These things may look like liquid eyeliners, but they're actually more like painter's tape. They're used to create a barrier that prevents frustratingly messy nail polish application. Just line the stuff around your nail, apply your perfect holiday polish, and peel the Liquid Palisade away to reveal a perfectly painted fingernail.

Kiesque offers both a thick brush similar to most nail polish brushes and a thin, precision brush. The precision brush can be used for French manicures and to try out fun DIY nail art

6. Glossier Boy Brow

If you get one brow product, it should be this one. The Glossier Boy Brow ($16) is a small tube that works wonders on your eyebrows. It's also paraben-free, alcohol-free, cruelty-free, and hypoallergenic and super easy to put on.

Use the brow brush to apply short, upward strokes to your eyebrows to fluff them up and give them the perfect shape. You'll be impressed by how little effort goes a long way with this stuff.

"All brow needs have been considered to create THE brow product: one to thicken, fill in, and groom them into place," the Glossier team wrote on its website. "We're inspired by healthy, face-framing brows and consider brow grooming the last crucial step before heading out into the world: brush your teeth, brush your brows, and then maybe brush your hair."

On it.

7. The Vamp Stamp

OK, so The Vamp Stamp ($25) isn't going to be available for purchase in time for Thanksgiving dinner, but a lazy girl's guide to beauty just didn't feel complete without mentioning it. The Vamp Stamp will put all of your cat eye struggles to rest by allowing you to effortlessly apply perfect winged liner.

The tool, which comes in two different size options, is dipped into a cream eyeliner pot. Then, you line it up to the outer corner of your eye and stamp. That's it. Perfect cat eye. Soon enough, you won't have to get so frustrated trying to get both an even line at the perfect angle on both your eyes.

Aside from the fact that it helps to solve your winged liner woes, the story behind the product is incredibly inspirational. The Vamp Stamp is the brainchild of Veronica Lorenz, a celebrity makeup artist who also founded the original Beautyblender. Lorenz came up with this innovative eyeliner stamp after she was diagnosed with a benign cervical tumor that impacted her ability to do makeup with her right hand. Due to partial paralysis from the tumor, Lorenz had to get creative in order to apply her winged eyeliner properly.

The company promises you'll be able to pre-order it soon, so it might just be the perfect beauty item to add to your letter to holiday gift wish list.
