"The Last Word" is a public service announcement produced by the Miami-Dade Expressway Authority in 2011 as part of Text the Last Word — a campaign to reduce texting while driving.
According to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute found texting while driving "creates a crash risk 23 times worse than driving while not distracted."
This PSA puts a face on those statistics.
The clip ends with the haunting words: "The next time you're driving, and you hear that text come through, before you reach for your phone, stop and think about who's left behind to pick up the pieces. Don't let your phone have the last word."
