13 Anonymous People Submitted The Last Words Loved Ones Said To Them

"He died of a drug overdose a few days later."

Do you remember the last thing a loved one who passed away said to you? How about an ex?

If someone's last words stick in your mind, Emily Trunko wants to know. The 15-year-old has created a Tumblr blog titled The Last Message Received for people to submit their stories.

"I was inspired to launch The Last Message Received because I thought there would be a large amount of varying emotions in last messages people receive," Trunko told A Plus. "Love in last messages from family members, hate and heartbreak in last messages from exes."

Trunko launched the blog just a few weeks ago and has already gained thousands of followers and received tons of submissions. Some of those submissions are screenshots while others simply say the words. The messages are incredibly raw. People have shared stories of parents, grandparents, and siblings who have passed away, ex-boyfriends and ex-girlfriends they just couldn't reconcile with, and even friends that have become strangers.

This actually isn't Trunkos first anonymous submissions blog. The teen also started the wildly popular blog Dear My Blank, which calls on people to anonymously submit the letters they want to write, but never send.

"I think what interests me about this outlet is what also interests the followers," Trunko told A Plus. "The fact that posts submitted by strangers can resonate with other strangers. Some submissions have definitely resonated with me."

We totally agree. Losing a loved one or going through a breakup is tough. It hurts. A lot. Sometimes knowing you're not alone can make it hurt just a little less.

You can read some of the heartbreaking anonymous submissions she's received below:

"My long-distance boyfriend and I talked on the phone every night before we went to sleep. We were in the middle of our nightly phone call when a friend stopped by his place. He asked if he could call me back in a few minutes. I fell asleep while waiting for him to call me back. His final phone call and text at 12:40 a.m. was the last message I received from him. He died of a seizure in the middle of the night. I never said goodnight or 'I love you' for the final time. I still feel such guilt, anger and sadness about this, even after all these years."

"He and I have a long history. The last time we talked, we were both drunk and he said he was still in love with me. But I don't love him anymore. I told him I'd talk to him when we were sober. I haven't spoken to him since."

"He died of a drug overdose a few days later."

"My dad passed away in April, this was the last message we had together the day before, I wish I had talked to him more."

"He never replied and I have no idea why."

"Last year he told me that he wanted to be with me and that he loved me. Less than a month later he found a new girlfriend and he's ignored me ever since."

"I had been living on the other side of the world for a year. My best friend and I were so excited about my visit home in June. She passed away in April."

"She still wanted to be friends after we broke up but I didn't have the heart to tell her that I never wanted to be friends with her again."

"Last message my grandma sent me when she went into heart surgery. Died nine days later."

"My ex, who I was still friendly with at the time, after I walked in on him and my best friend sleeping together."

"I had asked my brother for advice about a guy who I was dating. I was exhausted and passed out abruptly, woke up late to work my double for the Father's Day rush. I never had the chance to check my phone. My brother was killed in his sleep thirty minutes after he had texted me. I found out when I was on my way to meet my family for Father's Day dinner."

"After five years of friendship, I always thought he was going to be the one I ended up with, but I guess things just didn't turn out that way. It's crazy to think about all those conversations and memories came to end in one single word, 'No.'"
