These 11 Animated Transformations Will Have You Wanting To Ditch Reality

It’s more than a cool filter.

In today's world, where animation appears more lifelike, the line between cartoon and reality still remains clear. Or does it?

3-D artist Lance Phan blurs that line so much it will make anyone take a second look. By transforming real-life people into their digital cartoon selves, Phan is able to give his models a view of what life might look like in an animated world.

"It started out as practice," Phan admitted in an interview with deMilked. "I asked people their permission to experiment on their pictures."

The result was an uncanny digital replica of its human subjects. And after a few mind-blowing installments, Phan began receiving photos and requests from all over the world. But if he had to choose, he'd likely select the female subjects because, well, they're just not as complicated.

"Girls mostly send me pictures where they are the main subject," the Vietnamese artist explained. "Guys are different … The pictures have lots of object and people, so it will take forever to do just one picture."

Phan documents the phases of his work on social media by showing the various stages of color correcting and shading all the way to completion.

The process is both fascinating and amazing, with some of the most lifelike digital animation creations around. Still, Phan stays humble and critical of his impressive work.

"The hair is always the hardest part so I always try to find a new technique that makes that easier," he confessed.
