When Only One Kid Showed Up To Her 6th Birthday, The Internet Came To The Rescue

"I appreciate you all so much."

Kinley Montgomery was all set to celebrate her sixth birthday with a princess-themed party at a bowling alley with her friends. Her mom and grandma had rented a room and filled it with balloons, cake, and goodie bags.

But when it came time for the party, only Kinley's friend Jayla showed up.

According to BuzzFeed News, Kinley's 18-year-old sister, Kelsey Patton, told Kinley β€” who didn't understand why nobody had arrived β€” that the other guests were feeling sick. Despite that, Kinley and Jayla still had a great time just being with each other.

And when Kelsey wrote about what happened on Twitter, the Internet made their time even better.

People began retweeting Kelsey's message and sending their own birthday wishes to Kinley. Since Kelsey first wrote about her sister's party on Feb. 25, the tweet has been retweeted over 13,000 times and gotten over 23,300 likes.

People are continuing to wish Kinley a happy birthday and they're even offering to attend her party next year.

Kelsey says that her sister doesn't fully understand why people are sending her birthday wishes online, but she appreciates they're being kind. The rest of Kinley's family is also very appreciative of the outpouring of support.

Refinery29 reports that Patton is even going to open a P.O. Box because so many people have requested to send Kinley cards.
