Kind 8-Year-Old Boy Left This For Mail Carrier During Heat Wave

"I didn't want him to maybe pass out or anything," the thoughtful boy said.

As temperatures in Virginia climbed into the triple digits last week, one thoughtful 8-year-old boy in Newport News took it upon himself to help his local mail carrier beat the heat.

According to Virginia's ABC13 News, Carmine McDaniel — with some help from his mom, Terra — left a cooler full of ice cold drinks on their porch with a sign reading:

"Mailman: Water & Gatorade in cooler. Have a good day."

Home security camera footage — which Terra McDaniel later posted to Instagram and Facebook — captured the moment that the grateful mail carrier came across the cooler.

Today was super hot so we left Gatorade and Water for the mail carrier, his appreciation was so sweet. 💗

The thoughtful boy's act quickly became a viral news story, but to Carmine, it was really just a matter of taking care of another person.

"I just thought because it was really hot outside and I didn't want him to maybe pass out or anything," the younger McDaniel told ABC 13, "because [mail carriers] are really important so people can pay their bills and stuff like that and I didn't want him to pass out."

Doesn't take much to make a difference. Great job, Carmine.
