From kale to quinoa, green juice to avocado toast, certain foods have become popular health trends, gracing our Instagram feeds, magazine covers, and advertisements.
To explore which foods have been especially popular over the last 100 years, Bon Appétit created a video asking a panel of children to taste-test the trending items from each decade.
The kids try Nuttolene and shredded sauerkraut, two popular foods from the 1920s, as well as cabbage soup and cod liver oil from the '50s.
Needless to say, the video captures some pretty hilarious reactions from the participants, including one boy who tries a microwaved chicken dish and says, "That's a really good meatball. Is this a meatball?"
"I don't like where this is going," another kid says before diving into some chia pudding.
"This is the future. It's heaven," he later concludes, thus showing that the right healthy foods could become a regular part of a child's diet.
