Pregnant women have a lot to do when they go into labor. They have to make sure they have everything they need for the birth and they have to quickly figure out a way to deal with their contractions. Plus, they have to prepare for the fact that their lives are about to change forever.
Mom-to-be Kat Bailey took some time out of all of that to do something a little different.
Bailey performed a pole dancing routine between her contractions.
She posted a video of herself on Facebook performing an impressive Iron X move. She explained in the video that she promised a friend she would pole dance while she was in labor and dedicated the move to him.
Bailey smoothly goes into the position where she holds onto the pole and spreads her legs into a wide split. She gracefully dismounts and says, "Ta-da! Baby can come now."
The American Pregnancy Association states that squatting can help during labor, so perhaps Bailey's Iron X pose could have helped open up the pelvic floor outlet, too. As for safety, it depends on the individual person's level of physical activity before pregnancy to decide whether a move like this would be okay.
We've heard of some impressive things people do while they're in labor, including writing exams and driving themselves to the hospital, but Bailey's move is something else. It's no wonder that her video has already received a great response. It was posted on July 31, and it has already been viewed over 50,000 times.
There are many different videos that expand our ideas about pole dancing from videos of people of all shapes and sizes pole dancing to ones who do it while they're pregnant. Bailey's video can definitely be added to the list.
