The 'Scorpion Dunk' Needs To Be In The Slam Dunk Contest ASAP

Put him in the dunk contest.

Before the Minnesota Timberwolves' Zach LaVine showed up and breathed new life into the NBA's Slam Dunk Contest this weekend, criticism of the annual event had been growing.

Big names like LeBron James and Kevin Durant usually opt out of the competition, leaving it without as much star power. Concerns have also been voiced that there has been a remarkable amount of redundancy from year to year, as players perform the same dunks over and over again.

All that makes this video from professional dunker Jordan Kilganon so much more impressive. Not only does his new dunk, dubbed the "Scorpion Dunk," require immense athleticism, its conception took the creative desire to keep pushing until he found something new.

While the slam dunk artist may not get a chance to compete in the Slam Dunk Contest anytime soon, we're certain he'd be a contender if he did.
