Inspiration comes in many forms, and this young, astonishing woman is perhaps the embodiment of a fighting spirit we all wish we had.
At 15, Jordan Bone of Norfolk, England, was left paralyzed from the waist down after a horrific car crash. She broke her neck, lost the use of all four limbs and has had to use a wheelchair ever since.
Now, 10 years later, Bone has made incredible gains with her mobility, and has cultivated a strong and loyal Internet fan base for a skill that she never thought she would ever get back.
With more than 18,000 YouTube subscribers and 23,000 followers on Instagram, Jordan Bone is now a celebrated Internet beauty guru.
Bone can also proudly claim Kylie Jenner among her fans.
"Doing my beauty videos is a real achievement for me," Bone told the Mail Online, "because 10 years ago I couldn't even lift my arms up to put my mascara on, and it would be such a struggle ... I was crying because I wanted to wear the makeup that I wore before my accident. And finally I got there — that's what I try and tell people in my videos — try and do something you think is unachievable, because it is achievable."
Bone was only 15 when she climbed into a friend's car without thinking twice. Five minutes alter, the speeding car ran across a puddle and crashed into a ditch. She survived, and has since been battling the immense challenges of being tetraplegic.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the crash and Bone wrote in a blog post about the difficulties she still faces today.
"Generally," she wrote, "I am a positive person, but like I said before, this time of year just makes me remember the past. As each year passes I wonder if it will get harder because I am slowly slipping away from that 15 year old girl who could've had the world at her feet … instead her decision to get in that car [paralyzed] those feet, legs, stomach and fingers."
But the 25-year-old has channeled that harrowing experience into helping others. Bone is using her social media platform to raise awareness about road safety.
And to top it all off, she is now engaged to the love of her life, 27-year-old nutritionist and personal trainer Michael Harrison.
