While filming "Dead Men Tell No Tales," the latest "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie, Johnny Depp took a break to meet with Australian fans of the beloved franchise. But he didn't shake hands and kiss babies as Johnny Depp. No, the actor went full method for the appearance, meeting his adoring public as his best known character, Captain Jack Sparrow. No half measures here. Depp wore his trademark dreadlocked wig and red scarf, gold teeth and even eye makeup, all as part of Sparrow's famous costume for the impromptu meet-and-greet, which took place at Raby Bay Beach in Queensland, where the movie is filming.
Many of the people who got to meet Jack, er, Depp, posted their photos on the town's Facebook page, including some unlikely fans: three police officers took a selfie with the movie star and shared the image on the Queensland Police Service page.
"Dead Men Tell No Tales" is slated to open in theaters in 2017. The film follows Jack Sparrow as he searches for the trident of Poseidon. Joining him is Javier Bardem, who is new to the franchise as Captain Salazar, and Geoffrey Rush, who will reprise his role as Barbossa.
