Though Last Week Tonight with John Oliver is still on hiatus until mid-February, the bespectacled host popped in for a Web exclusive video just a few days into 2016 in order to get real for a minute with the New Year's resolutions we all made.
There's something awfully poetic about setting a New Year's resolution. It gives a renewed sense of purpose and urges us to take control of our lives, making sure that we're living up to our full potential and being the best version of ourselves that we can.
There are lots of ways to make sure that you succeed in your goals, including clearly outlining what you want to achieve and breaking down the necessary steps in order to make that dream a reality. Having someone hold you accountable is another good way to make sure that things get done.
Sadly, the vast majority of resolutions made on January 1 never come to fruition and that's where John Oliver has stepped in to rebuild our confidence about the
lies we've told goals we've set to improve ourselves.
