John Cena Reminds Us How Diverse America Really Is In This Inspiring New PSA

"To love America is to love all Americans."

In celebration of Independence Day, Ad Council has released a new PSA starring wrestler John Cena. The video begins with a discussion of patriotism and continues to send a powerful message about diversity and acceptance.

As Cena explains while strolling the streets, "Patriotism is love for a country, not just pride in it."

He then asks viewers to picture the average American citizen. "Chances are the person you're picturing right now looks a little different than the real average American," he predicts.

Cena goes on to remind us just how diverse America really is, in terms of race, gender, sexual orientation, religion and more. He even shares statistics to put things into perspective. "Three and a half million are Muslim," he says, "triple the number currently serving in the United States military."

As Cena describes each type of American, people who fit that description appear in the frame. For instance, when he mentions the LGBT community, a gay couple walks behind him with their daughter. It's a subtle but meaningful way to highlight the reality of his message.

The video is an inspiring reminder of what America is all about — accepting our differences and not allowing labels to divide us. "Because the second any of us judge people based on those labels," Cena warns, "we're not really being patriotic, are we?"
