Families can come in many different forms: some are traditional, some are blended, some have adopted members, some are comprised of friends or communities, and others can't even be defined.
Retail brand Jockey is putting adoptive families at the forefront, however, in its Show 'Em What's Underneath campaign. In a tender new video, new dad Michael Cottone discusses what it was like to adopt his son, Vincent.
Adoption is a brilliant choice for people looking to start a family. The American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry reports that approximately 120,000 children are adopted every year in the United States. However, there are still numerous kids in foster care. In fact, the Children's Bureau states there were approximately 415,129 children in foster care in 2014.
That still leaves many children without homes and families.
Jockey's heartwarming video is moving to watch, but more importantly it brings attention to the beauty of adoption. There are lots of children out there like Vincent who are looking for a good home. As Cottone says, "Family means everything," and every child deserves to be a part of one.
