Artist Reimagines Flowers As Part Of New, Playful Works Of Art

"I decided to open my mind and get carried away by what the universe wants to give me."

"Sometimes when I look at a flower, at the same time, I'm imagining another object that this could be," artist Jesuso Ortiz tells A Plus in an email. "That's how my creation begins."

Ortiz, who's playful art makes for an eclectic and bright display on Instagram, turns flowers into parachutes, dresses, trumpets, and beyond, seeing as every flower's unique characteristics open up a world of possibilities, he says.

The artist adds that it's his fascination with life that inspires his work, with nature being a large part of such inspiration.

"[For] awhile I did not know [how to] appreciate these things, but I decided to open my mind and get carried away by what the universe wants to give me."

Ortiz recalls being creative ever since he was just a child, "dismounting my watches and [painting them] to be unique and artistic," he explains. From there, he began designing dresses and clothes in notebooks and went on to study art in Spain.

When asked what he hopes people take away from his work, Ortiz says:

"I'd like people to feel that gratitude toward life. I hope [to] at least get a smile. I think it's important that we focus on fun things — the world would be very different."
